Capital A Targets Diaspora Investors with New Dollar and Shilling Funds

Capital A Investment Bank has launched Rejesha Funds, a Family of funds under its Capital Markets Authority (CMA) regulated Collective Investment Scheme that lets Kenyans at home and abroad invest in shillings or US Dollars.
The funds are designed to help Kenyans move from simply holding money to saving, investing and building long-term wealth.
- The Rejesha Multi Asset Multi Strategy Special Fund(USD & KSHS), begins with a minimum investment amount of KES 100,000 or USD 1,000, invests across government securities, listed equities, corporate bonds, exchange-traded funds, commodities and alternative investments for medium to long-term goals. It has a six-month lock-in, and pays redemptions within three to five business days.
- The Rejesha Money Market Fund is accessible with an investment of KES 1,000 or USD 500, and is designed for everyday savings that need to stay within reach. Investors can withdraw at any time, and income is distributed monthly.
- Neither fund charges entry or exit
The funds are managed by Capital A Investment Bank, which has worked in Kenya’s capital markets since 2009. Capital A Investment Bank is a leading participant in Kenya’s Capital markets offering Corporate Advisory services, Stock and Bonds trading as well as Asset Management.
Speaking at the launch at The Capital Club in Nairobi, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Linus Kang’ara posed that Kenya had made remarkable progress in giving people access to financial services, but that access had not yet translated into financial security for most households. He noted that “According to the 2024 FinAccess Household Survey, formal financial inclusion has risen to nearly 85 percent of Kenyan adults, yet only 18.3 percent or 2 in every 10 Kenyans are considered financially healthy.
“A mobile wallet is not an investment portfolio. Financial inclusion has opened the door. Wealth creation must now become the destination,” said Mr Kang’ara.
He said money left idle loses value as prices rise, with Kenya’s annual inflation at 6.8 percent in September.
Rejesha was built for people who have found investing complicated or out of reach, from young professionals and business owners to parents saving for school fees.
“Kenya has transformed how people access and move money. Together, we can transform how they save, invest and build lasting wealth,” he said.
Board Chairman Patrick Ndei said trust and governance were at the centre of the business Strategy for Capital A. The funds operate under the CMA’s rules for collective investment schemes, and investors’ assets are held by Standard Chartered Bank as trustee and custodian, separately from Capital A Investment Bank.
“When a teacher in Nyeri, a boda boda rider in Kisumu or a nurse in the UK invests their savings, they are not buying a product. They are trusting someone with years of their work. As a Board, our first job is to protect that trust,” said Mr Ndei.
“We want to help build a nation of investors, one where saving and investing are habits, not privileges,” he added.
Mr Kang’ara described Kenyans abroad as a strategic priority for the bank. The US Dollar funds allow the diaspora to invest in a regulated Kenyan fund without converting their savings, and accounts can be opened and managed online.
“The next chapter of Kenya’s diaspora success story should be measured not only by remittances received, but also by the lasting wealth our people build,” said Mr Kang’ara.
Every Rejesha investor is assigned a dedicated wealth partner through the bank’s Private Wealth team.
“We are building Rejesha for the long term. What we can promise is disciplined investment management, transparency about performance, fees and risks, and a commitment to putting our clients’ interests first,” Mr Kang’ara said.
