Java House Expands Eastlands Footprint with New Rabai Road Outlet

Java House has opened a new branch in Buruburu, one of Nairobi’s oldest established residential neighbourhoods, bringing its dining and coffee experience closer to residents, commuters and families across Eastlands.

The new Rabai Road branch is strategically located at the junction of Jogoo Road and Rabai Road, placing it along one of Nairobi’s key transport arteries. Jogoo Road connects the eastern part of the city to major routes including Kangundo Road and Outer Ring Road, making the new Java House a convenient stop for people living and working across Buruburu, Donholm, Komarock and surrounding areas.

Buruburu’s growth has been accompanied by a mix of businesses, retail destinations and services, complementing its longstanding role as a residential centre. The changing character of the neighbourhood has created demand for dining and coffee destinations that offer residents and those passing through the area greater convenience without having to travel into Nairobi’s traditional commercial districts.

Speaking during the official launch, Priscilla Gathungu, CEO of Java House Group, noted that Buruburu residents increasingly expect the same quality and convenience, only closer to home.

“This branch is our response to the growth seen in and around Buruburu, and to a community that increasingly expects the same standard of service it would find in the city centre. It is well positioned along a major commuter corridor and is going to serve, not only the Buruburu community, but also people travelling between Eastlands neighbourhoods and other parts of Nairobi, providing a convenient meeting point for families, commuters and travellers,” added Ms Gathungu.

Located at TotalEnergies, the new branch builds on Java House’s longstanding practice of commissioning artwork that depicts scenes from each branch’s location, a tradition that roots every new outlet in the character of the neighbourhood it serves. Artwork in the Buruburu branch captures the area’s growth and landmarks, including murals that depict the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA), the famed Buruburu matatus, the Makadara Railway Station, and historic Mutindwa Market.

“We are glad to be part of the community’s rich history that has contributed to Kenya’s art and cultural scenes through foundational institutions such as the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA), and the iconic number 58 matatus,” added Ms Gathungu.

The Rabai Road branch is Java’s 114th outlet in East Africa, reflecting the brand’s continuing expansion across the region.
