The LOOP Safari Gravel Series has reached a major sustainability milestone, with 10,000 trees planted since the series launched in 2024, reinforcing its commitment to connecting sport, environmental conservation and sustainable tourism.

The achievement follows the planting of 4,000 trees across the four stops of the 2026 season, which concluded in Nanyuki on Saturday, 17 October, with Jordan Schleck and Mary Aleper emerging as winners of the final race.

At the season finale, held at Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, LOOP DFS planted 100 indigenous trees, underscoring the series’ commitment to leaving a positive environmental legacy in the destinations that host it.

The 2026 circuit traversed Limuru in March, Naivasha in June, Vipingo in August and Nanyuki in October, bringing together cyclists, spectators and local communities while integrating environmental conservation into the gravel cycling experience.

Commenting on the milestone, Nelly Wainaina, NCBA Group Director, Marketing, Communication and Citizenship, said:

“Sport has the power to bring people together around a shared purpose and create a positive impact that extends beyond the finish line. Through the LOOP Safari Gravel Series, we are connecting the spirit of cycling and adventure with a responsibility to protect the natural environments that make these experiences possible. Reaching 10,000 trees since 2024 is an important milestone and a testament to what we can achieve when sport and sustainability come together. Through our continued commitment to conservation, we aim to create a lasting positive impact on the destinations we visit and the communities that host us.”

Gravel cycling connects participants with natural landscapes and off-road terrain, offering an opportunity to pair sporting adventure with environmental responsibility. Through the series, LOOP DFS encourages cyclists to support conservation and tree growing in the destinations they explore.

The initiative also aligns with NCBA Group’s wider sustainability agenda, which targets growing 10 million trees by 2030. By combining cycling with sustained environmental action, the series demonstrates how sports tourism can contribute to conservation while creating meaningful connections between people, communities and nature.
