Sun King Expands PowerHub Solar Inverter Range for Large Homes and Businesses in Kenya

Sun King has expanded its PowerHub solar inverter range to include systems with capacities of up to 30 kilowatts (kW), targeting households, businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, and light industrial operations seeking alternatives to unreliable grid electricity.
The new additions, unveiled in Nairobi on October 8, 2026, expand the company’s inverter portfolio from 2.2kW to 30kW, allowing customers to install systems suited to their electricity needs and increase capacity as demand grows.
The expanded range is designed to power larger appliances and equipment, including air conditioners, water pumps, washing machines and microwaves. The systems can also support offices and entire buildings, making them an option for businesses and institutions that require electricity for extended periods.
According to the company, the inverters can operate in parallel, allowing customers to connect two or more units to increase their combined power output. This arrangement provides an option for users whose electricity requirements exceed the capacity of a single inverter.
The systems also allow customers to determine the amount of battery storage and solar panel capacity they need when installing the equipment. They can then expand their systems over time without necessarily replacing the existing equipment, depending on their power requirements and system configuration.
The expansion comes as households and businesses seek ways to manage electricity interruptions and reduce reliance on fuel-powered generators. For enterprises, power disruptions can affect daily operations, while homes increasingly require electricity to run appliances, maintain internet connectivity and support work-from-home arrangements.
The larger PowerHub systems are intended to address some of these requirements by providing solar power capacity for users with higher energy consumption than conventional household solar installations can accommodate.
“The latest additions to our PowerHub range take us into new territory. We can now serve homes, shops, businesses, schools, hospitals, and offices of virtually any size,” said Atta Arome, Product Head of Solar Inverter Systems at Sun King.
The company said the expanded range is available across Kenya through its nationwide agent network. Customers can also attend in-person demonstrations organised by the company to assess the systems and obtain information before purchasing.
Pricing depends on the payment option and system selected. Sun King’s announcement states that its PowerHub systems are available through monthly payment arrangements, with one section citing payments starting at KSh15,500 a month and a down payment of KSh22,600. Another section quotes monthly payments starting at KSh23,600, with a small down payment.
Prospective buyers will therefore need to confirm the applicable price, initial payment, monthly instalments and system specifications with the company before committing to a purchase.
The company also provides installation and after-sales support, with its announcement stating that installations are covered by a full warranty. The arrangement allows customers to obtain the equipment, installation and subsequent support from the same provider.
Victor Agandi, Sun King’s Vice President of Pay As You Go for East and Southern Africa, said the payment model was intended to help customers access higher-capacity solar systems through instalments rather than paying the full cost upfront.
The availability of financing could be particularly relevant to small and medium-sized businesses that need more electricity capacity but may face challenges raising the initial capital required for a solar installation. However, the overall cost will depend on the selected system, payment period and other applicable terms.
Sun King has operated in Kenya since 2007 and says its solar products are distributed through a nationwide network of agents. The company also provides solar solutions across other African markets.
According to the company, one in five Kenyans has access to its solar solutions, while more than 330,000 of its solar products are installed monthly across Africa.
The expansion of the PowerHub range gives customers with larger electricity requirements additional system capacities to consider, beyond smaller solar installations typically associated with basic household lighting and charging.
For businesses, schools and healthcare facilities, the suitability of a system will depend on the equipment being powered, the amount of electricity consumed, the duration of daily use and the battery storage required to maintain supply when solar generation is insufficient.
Customers considering the systems will need to assess their energy consumption and confirm whether the selected inverter, solar panels and batteries can support their intended loads.
The expanded PowerHub range is now available through Sun King’s agent network across Kenya.
