Uwezo College has graduated its 2025/2026 class, marking another milestone in its mission to equip young Kenyans with practical, technical and professional skills for employment, entrepreneurship and a business environment increasingly shaped by AI.

The sixth graduation brought together graduates, parents, faculty and industry leaders. Graduates completed programs in the schools of Information Communication Technology (ICT); Business; Catering and Hospitality; Social Work and Community Development; Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Building Technology and Civil Engineering; Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy; and Accounting.

Awards included diplomas, craft certificates, artisan certificates and professional qualifications from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) and the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM).

Guest of honor Dr. Julius Kipng’etich, CBS, EBS, Group CEO of Jubilee Holdings, urged the graduands to uphold the values they learned at the college and apply them in real life. He praised Uwezo College for setting the pace for others to learn from.

College Managing Director and Board Chairman Felix M. Kyengo said Uwezo remains committed to practical, industry-responsive education.

“At Uwezo College, our philosophy, ‘Beyond Training,’ drives us to deliver industry-responsive, practical education. As we prepare you for a rapidly changing world, we must remain anchored in our identity. In my book, The Essentials of Akamba Culture, I emphasize the importance of preserving our rich heritage, values, and sense of belonging. Technical competence paired with strong cultural character creates truly responsible leaders,” said Kyengo.

He also highlighted the Uwezo Wetu Foundation, which supports deserving young people in acquiring practical skills and pursuing dignified livelihoods, widening access for those facing financial barriers.

Principal Japheth M. Mwaniki described the graduation as a transition into professional life and enterprise.

“Your journey through Uwezo College has been one of discovery, discipline, practical learning, and personal growth. We have witnessed your determination, celebrated your progress, and invested in preparing you for a world that increasingly values competence, creativity, and the ability to turn ideas into practical solutions. As Principal, there is no greater satisfaction than seeing you reach this important milestone, ready to take your place in the world of work and enterprise,” said Mwaniki.

The college’s approach combines classroom instruction with practical learning, industrial attachment and student development activities that build confidence, teamwork and professional discipline. Sports, cultural activities and community service are part of student life, including environmental clean-ups, tree planting, waste collection and public education on proper waste disposal.

Uwezo College also has a four-year partnership with the Machakos County Directorate of Waste Management on electronic waste management, promoting responsible disposal and recycling. These activities help students develop practical experience, social responsibility and the ability to work with others, qualities that matter across professions.

At the Timiza Talanta Eastern Awards, the institution was named Best TVET Training Institution, and its cultural dancers won Best College Cultural Dancers.
