Safaricom largest mover of the day with 28.36 percent of total market turnover.

Kenyan Stock Market

The NSE 20 rose by 4.46 points to close the bourse at 4,928.91 while the NASI index declined by 0.90 points to close at 166.48. Olympia Holdings edged up by 10.00 percent to close at KES 5.50 to become today’s top gainer. Unga emerged the top loser, declining by 4.92 percent to close the day at KES 43.50.

The volume of shares traded declined by 49.62 percent to close at 19.13mn.Total turnover also dropped by 57.79 percent to close at KES 498.21mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 141.29mn representing 28.36 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 35.48 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 34.73 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI rose by 0.39 percent to close at 1,923.06 while USE LSI dropped by 0.42 percent to close at 324.35. A total of 8.46mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 3,930.07mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI remained constant to close at 224.43 and 136.13. Total number of shares traded today was 2.66mn shares. Total turnover come to a close of 771.44mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI gained 0.09 percent and 0.06 Percent respectively to close at 2,739.23 and 4,703.38. Africa Barrick Gold was today’s top gainer, gaining 2.94 percent to close at 9,110.00. Tanga Cement Company was the top loser, declining by 0.26 percent to close at 3,810.00. Total volumes were recorded at 3.87mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 54.51bnmn.
