BAT Kenya declines by 8.28 percent to emerge top loser

The NSE 20 and NASI index declined by 16.71 points and 0.01 points respectively to close at 4,773.79 and 164.22. Sameer gained 6.19 percent to close at KES 5.15 to become today’s top gainers. BAT Kenya emerged the top loser, declining by 8.28 percent to close the day at KES 720.00.

The volume of shares traded dipped by 40.57 percent to close at 20.41mn.Total turnover dropped by 58.45 percent to close at KES 542.15mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 189.47mn representing 34.95 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 65.55 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 59.35 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI rose by 2.15 percent and 0.01 percent to close at 1,936.09 and 324.35. A total of 230,213 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 15.81mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI remained constant to close at 221.35 and 135.77 respectively. Total number of shares traded today was 6.81mn shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 1.91bn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI edged up by 0.65 percent and 0.15 percent to close at 2,796.68 and 4,703.21. CRDB Bank was the top gainer of the day, gaining 1.16 percent to close at TZS 435.00.Africa Barrick Gold was the top loser declining by 0.85 percent to close at TZS 9,930.00. Total volumes were recorded at 35,323 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 149.66mn.
