Car & General declines by 9.09 percent to emerge top loser

The NSE 20 and NASI index declined 4.13 points and 1.07 respectively to settle at 4,776.35 and 162.27. Limuru Tea gained the most in the market edging up by 9.96 percent to close the day at KES 1,248.00. Car & General emerged the top loser, declining by 9.09 percent to close the day at KES 40.00.

The volume of shares traded rose by 47.22 percent to close at 27.41mn.Total turnover went up 52.52 percent to close at KES 700.47mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 178.53mn representing 26.58 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 69.56 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 64.49 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI rose 0.07 percent to close at 2,016.47 LSI remained constant 324.36. A total of 18.94mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 632.97mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSI declined by 1.21 percent and 0.24 percent to close at 219.00 and 135.49 respectively. Total number of shares traded today was 179,700 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 53.40bn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and TSI declined 1.77 percent and 1.68 percent respectively to close at 2,769.65 and 4,712.88. Tanzania Breweries was the top loser of the day declining by 3.33 percent to close at
TZS 1,450.00. Total volumes were recorded at 5.39mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 4.95bn.
