Bilateral Agreements Between USA and Kenya

The President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama is in town and with him are numerous goodies meant for his father’s nation of birth economically.

President Obama, representing the United States of America and his host President Uhuru Kenyatta representing Kenya as a country have signed a number of bilateral agreements that will see these two countries work in conjunction with each other to raise the economic standards for both countries.

These agreements include an increase in Visa validity for Kenyans travelling to the United States of America from one year to five years.

The increase in the validity of Visa is a great step in the growth of Kenya’s economy.

Tourists and business visitors from the United States will also have the liberty to remain in Kenya for five years before expiry of their Visas. This will also help Kenyans who travel to the United States especially those with student Visas to have ample time and in the process exchange ideas.

President Obama has also said that USA and Kenya are working closely to begin direct flights as soon as possible.

Another was an agreement on the cooperation in Threat Reduction and Biological Engagement Programs.

This is aimed to ensure that both nations, in conjunction with each other, will help in reduction of threats from naturally occurring diseases, biological threats as well as bioterrorism threats and effects. It also includes the implementation of a sustainable and legally entrenched national program for biosafety and biosecurity.

There was also an agreement on the development and implementation of the infrastructure priority in Kenya. This is meant to allow for economic developments in the strategic projects such as the LAPPSET Project.

The two nations also agreed to work jointly for what will be known as the Security Governance Initiative. This will among other things enhance capacities for police human resources management and effective administration of justice in Kenya.

Kenya will surely benefit from these bilateral agreements and should take this chance to rip big from the United States.
