Ladies Challenged At The Migaa Golf Course

The Migaa Golf Course will welcome 45 lady golfers on the 17th of July who will compete for the winners’ title by playing on the 9 holes twice. This follows the inaugural tournament which was hosted by Maina Kageni last month where it was deciphered that the well talked about hole #14 at the Migaa Golf Course is the most challenging hole, a par 3, whilst hole 18 will surely be one to take in as it is the most scenic.

Women’s golf has a long history in Kenya as it came about in the early 1930’s and has gone through a metamorphosis to what it is today. In December of 1935, a group of enthusiastic ladies met at Muthaiga Golf Club and discussed ways and means of establishing a ladies’ union thus Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) came about and thereafter formed a constitution.

Since then it has been 80 years to 2015 and ladies’ golf in Kenya has grown from strength to strength with membership growing to about 500 amateur lady golfers. KLGU participates in most continental and regional tournaments including the All African Challenge Trophy (AACT), and Gilberson & Page (G&P). In 1994, KLGU hosted the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) with entries from 11 Countries and for the second time in 2014 where 17 Countries participated.

“The upcoming ladies Invitational at Migaa is going to see amateur golfers take on the course in the hopes of winning the 1st ever ladies event at Migaa”, said Lucie Maina, a director of Migaa.

Golf being played at Migaa is starting to become a lifestyle affair projected to be the “go to place” to spend your weekends. What sets apart this particular golf course is the scenery, and the exhilarating experience that comes with playing the course, not forgetting the big skies, fresh air, dewy mornings, and wonderful sunsets that it presents. The way the golf course is laid out makes playing there an unforgettable experience.
