Kenya Airways Climbs 9.09 Percent

The NSE 20 and NASI index gained 36.05 points and 1.17 points respectively to close at 4,519.63 and 154.91. Kenya Airways went up 9.09 percent to KES 6.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Eaagads emerged the top loser, declining by 9.16 percent to close the day at KES 29.75.

The volume of shares traded went up by 50.99 percent to close at 28.91mn. Total turnover gained 96.01 percent to close at KES 978.54mn. E.A. Breweries was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 226.39mn representing 23.14 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 81.45 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 45.83 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI gained 1.21 percent to close at 2,005.87 while USE LSI declined by 0.31 percent to close at 354.33. A total of 9.14mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 1.50bn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 204.36 and 143.20 respectively. Total number of shares traded today was 1.16mn shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 356.61mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI gained 0.15 percent and 0.49 percent respectively to close at 2,600.36 and 4,594.35. Tanzania Portland Cement rose by 4.99 percent to close at TZS 3,580.00 to become top gainer. Dar es Salaam Community Bank declined by 3.13 percent to close at TZS 620.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 1.07 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 13.47bn.
