BAT Kenya Emerges Top Loser of the Day

NSE 20 share and NASI index shrank by 26.13 points and 0.60 points respectively to close at 4,127.08 and 142.52. Umeme gained 10.00 percent to KES 19.25 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. BAT Kenya emerged the top loser, declining by 8.23 percent to close the day at KES 691.00.

The volume of shares traded shot up 89.85 percent to close at 19.26mn. Total turnover also went up 73.13 percent to close at KES 633.48mn. Equity Group was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 188.76mn representing 29.80 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 79.09 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 54.62 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

The USE ALSI and USE LSI gained 0.72 percent and 0.31 percent respectively to close at 1,868.93 and 351.48. A total of 5.21mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 2.17bn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI dropped 0.79 percent and 0.11 respectively to close at 192.24 and 141.53. Total number of shares traded today was 4,100 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 1.16mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI declined 0.28 percent and 0.07 percent respectively to close at 2,462.20 and 4,620.89. Swissport Tanzania the day’s top gainer, gaining 11.0 percent to close at 555.00. CRDB Bank declined 3.32 percent to close at 7,570.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 154,471 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 1.72bn.
