Kakuzi Emerges Top Loser of the Day

NSE 20 and NASI index dropped 16.92 points and 1.24 points respectively to close at 4,189.22 and 148.10. Kapchorua Tea gained 8.20 percent closing today’s session at KES 19.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Kakuzi emerged the top loser, declining by 9.62 percent to close the day at KES 310.00.

The volume of shares traded rose by 32.21 percent to close at 26.55mn. Total turnover also went up 50.06 percent to close at KES 602.01mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 206.36mn representing 34.26 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 75.00 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 48.73 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI rose by 0.07 percent and 0.44 percent respectively to close at 1,956.13 and 354.27. A total of 1.37mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close
of UGX 595.07mn, an increase from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI shed off 0.41 percent and 0.07 percent respectively to close at 185.95 and 135.46. Total turnover came in at RWF 64.66mn with 231,100 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI declined 0.40 percent to close at 2,513.76 while DSE TSI shoved up 1.51 percent respectively to close at 4,661.67. Afrika Barrick Gold declined 3.11 percent to close at TZS 7,790.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 163,666 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 171.95mn.
