Bamburi Kenya Emerges Top Loser of the Day

NSE 20 and NASI index declined 30.21 points and 0.30 points respectively to close at 4,041.35 and 142.40. Liberty gained 10.00 percent closing today’s session at KES 22.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Bamburi Kenya was the top loser, declining 5.42 percent to close the day at KES 157.00.

The volume of shares traded dropped 77.49 percent to close at 10.53mn. Total turnover also went down to close at KES 276.55bn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 45.70mn representing 16.53 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 75.39 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 34.94 percent of total turnover. Foreign buyers become net buyers of Liberty insurance.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI rose 1.50 percent and 1.91 percent respectively to close at 1,900.03 and 359.10. A total of 2.73mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 1.80bn, an increase from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI declined 1.98 percent and 0.32 percent respectively to close at 180.77 and 134.84. Total turnover came in at RWF 2.88mn with 11,100 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI declined 0.52 percent to close at 2,448.68 while DSE TSI gained 0.04 percent respectively to close at 4,593.45. National Microfinance Bank was the top gainer, increasing by 1.45 percent to close at TZS 2,790.00. Tanga Cement Company declined 7.35 percent to close at TZS 3,150.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 9.56mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 5.19bn.
