The Ministry of Education has adjusted school and Exam calendar to accommodate the fresh presidential election scheduled for October 26.

“Given that a number of schools are gazetted polling stations and tallying centers for the elections, it has become necessary to make minor adjustments to the third Term dates to free up the institutions for use during this important national exercise.”

During the period, Home Science 441/3 was to be affected and now has been rescheduled for October 30.

“All primary schools will close for the Christmas Holidays on October 25. Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will be expected to attend rehearsal on October 30 ahead of their examinations that will start on October 31 and end on November 2 as per the timetables already released,” said Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

However, students in Form one, two and three will close for Christmas holidays on October 24 as the KCESE candidates ‘remain in school to continue preparing for their examinations.’

A total of 1,002, 922 candidates were registered to sit the 2017 KCPE. This is the highest number of examination registration ever recorded.

Another 615, 284 have registered to sit the KCSE examination this year.

There will be 28,566 examination centers for the KCPE and 9,350 for KCSE candidates.
