NCBA’s LOOP BIZ+ Combines Digital Payments, AI-Powered Inventory and Financing for Kenyan Businesses

LOOP Digital Financial Services (LOOP DFS), the digital financial services subsidiary of NCBA Group, has launched LOOP BIZ+, an innovative integrated merchant platform for Kenyan businesses providing multi-rail payment acceptance across POS, App and Web, a comprehensive enterprise back-office covering, AI powered inventory management system that enables you to Get insights to manager stocks better, the LOOP DISCOVER marketplace, where merchants can list products and market directly to LOOP consumers and flexible working-capital products spanning quick loans, overdrafts, and long-term loans.
For many Kenyan SMEs, running a business still means juggling a separate POS terminal, a mobile money till, a stock book, an accounting package, marketing channels and loan applications, each with its own contract, support line and records. Business owners end up reconciling between systems that do not speak to each other, while lenders often assess them on only a partial picture of their business. LOOP BIZ+ replaces this fragmented set-up with a single platform, one onboarding and one relationship, where every capability draws on the same view of the business.
At the centre of LOOP BIZ+ is the LOOP point-of-sale (POS) device that accepts Visa and other card payments, NFC contactless, mobile money and LOOP on a single device. The same acceptance experience is available on a smartphone through the LOOP BIZ app and through the web portal, giving merchants a consistent point of sale wherever they trade and the flexibility to serve customers with different payment preferences.
Speaking at the launch, Sheila Kimani, Chief Commercial Officer, LOOP DFS, said: “Small businesses are the backbone of Kenya’s economy, yet many entrepreneurs still manage payments, records, stock, marketing and financing through separate channels, and end up being the ones holding it all together.
LOOP BIZ+ brings these needs into one platform, so merchants can spend less time reconciling systems and more time running their business. Because the platform sees the business as a whole, we can offer the right kind of support at the right time, and with NCBA Bank behind the credit relationship, merchants can plan their growth with greater confidence.”
On their part, LOOP DFS partner VISA represented by John Njoroge, Country Manager for Kenya at Visa, said: “Kenya has built one of the world’s most dynamic digital payments ecosystems, and the next opportunity is ensuring more businesses can participate fully in it. LOOP POS broadens payment choice for merchants and consumers by bringing Visa card acceptance together with other digital payment options. Through partnerships like this, we can help more businesses participate confidently in digital commerce and create new growth opportunities.”
LOOP BIZ+ brings together several capabilities to support merchants at different stages of their growth journey, including:
- Unified payment acceptance: One LOOP POS accepting card, NFC contactless, mobile money and LOOP, with the same experience on the LOOP BIZ app and web portal, removing the need for separate terminals, tills and online checkouts.
- LOOP Discover: A digital storefront via the LOOP consumer App where merchants onboarded on LOOP BIZ can market to 500K+ consumers. This adds a digital channel for visibility and footfall, complementing referrals and walk-in traffic.
- Flexible working capital: A graduated set of financing options that merchants can choose from based on their needs: quick loans for immediate cash needs, an overdraft facility against the LOOP Payment Account, supplier credit lines that disburse directly to named suppliers, and a digital pathway to long-term financing. The SMEs transaction history on the POS machine can be used as collateral to inform business credit scoring and help eligible merchants access financing, with credit limits that can evolve as their businesses grow, subject to applicable eligibility criteria and credit approval. Additionally, through the newly launched credit gamification feature on the LOOP BIZ app, merchants can also set credit goals and track their progress towards their target limits, making their journey towards accessing credit more transparent and engaging. A similar experience for web-based merchants will be rolled out soon..
- AI-powered inventory intelligence: Helps merchants make smarter stock decisions through inventory monitoring, demand forecasting, restocking recommendations and the identification of slow-moving products. For example, the system flags slow-moving stock every morning, helping merchants identify products that are not selling as quickly as expected and make informed decisions on what to restock, when to reorder and how much to invest in inventory. This helps reduce stock wastage, minimise money tied up in slow-moving goods, anticipate customer demand, and manage working capital more effectively. This capability is currently available to merchants onboarded on the web platform with a phased plan to rollout on the LOOP BIZ App in 2027.
By combining the agility of a digital platform with the backing of NCBA Bank, LOOP BIZ+ gives Kenyan merchants access to integrated tools that were previously within reach mainly of larger corporates, and a financing relationship that can grow alongside their business.
This latest innovation reinforces LOOP’s commitment to harnessing technology to simplify business, expand access to financial opportunities and empower Kenyan enterprises to thrive in an increasingly digital economy.
