Bidco Africa eyes 50 pc growth in revenue in 2018

Bidco Africa, one of the Leading consumer goods manufacturer in East Africa, projects growing its revenues by 50 percent in the next one year.

“Next one year, our revenues will double. We are looking at making Bidco Africa a one billion dollar company in terms of annual turnover. This will grow by 50 percent in the next one year,” said Thiagarajan Ramamurthy, group managing director during the launch of its Ksh2 Billion detergent factory in Thika.

Ramamurthy said the company has confidence in the Kenyan economy noting that they have been in operation for the last three decades since 1985.  “It shows that we make sense of the people,” he said.

The launch of the detergent plant is part of Bidco Africa’s KSh 20.66 billion diversification plan in the next five years.

Its Vision 2030 plan 2030 is to become the Number One African FMCG Conglomerate with a presence in Eastern, Central and South Africa, North Africa and West Africa.

Currently, their products serve over 17 African nations.

“This is a local company with a global outlook,” emphasised Ramamurthy.

“Technology has opened up the market. Our goal is to make sure our products are available to our consumers in their various locations. Our focus is consumer satisfaction through the diverse value chain which is unique to us,” he adds.

To achieve this ambitious corporate strategy, he discloses the values which they believe in connectivity, identity and loyalty.

“If you are visible and you are able to communicate, you have the connectivity. If you can make sense, then you create an identity and if you keep adding the best propositions, then you make people become loyal to you.”

“These are the values we believe in,” he says.
