Here is the Number of Current Active Social Media Users in The World: Facebook Still Rules

Social media tools have continued to become one of the most influential tools around the world. What started as a splint is now a huge fire that has spread around the globe to the point of even shaking the mighty.

Facebook is one of the most used social media tools in the world. The platform got a hit after it emerged that another data company, Cambridge Analytica, was mining data from Facebook users without their knowledge. The platform is said to current have 2,196,000,000 active users.

Facebook was initially used for socializing but at present, most people use it for business purposes including running ads through the parent company. As at December 2017, Facebook has slightly above 7,000,000 users in Kenya.

YouTube is the second most popular social media tool in the world. The tool is said to have at least 1,900,000,000 active users around the world. According to Bloggers Association of Kenya, the country had 8,000,000 active YouTube users at the end of 2017.

WhatsApp is the third most popular social media tool in Kenya. The tool, which majorly used for communication purposes, currently has approximately 1,500,000,000 active users worldwide with Kenya having at least 12,000,000.

Facebook Messenger, which most people know as the ‘inbox’ section of Facebook, is a tool that people on Facebook use to communicate without their conversation appearing on the timeline. The tool currently has approximately 1,300,000,000 users around the world.

Instagram, popular for the posting of images and videos currently has approximately 1,000,000,000 people globally with Kenya having at least 1,000,000 active users.

Many people think that Twitter is most used social media tool in the world. Of course, it among the most used tool but not with the most number of users. The tool currently has approximately 336,000,000 users around the world with Kenya having at least 1,000,000 active users. Twitter, recently suspended millions of accounts in what was termed as Twitter Purge with millions of other accounts losing followers.

Reddit, not very common among most people, surprisingly has 330,000,000 active users around the world while LinkedIn, which most people use for professional purposes has at least 294,000,000 active users around the world.
