World’s 10 Fastest Growing Economies in 2018: Africa Takes The Lion’s Share

The World Bank has released a list of top 10 fastest growing economies in the world with Africa taking the lion’s share.

According to the report, Africa has a total of six countries among the top 10 fastest growing economies globally.

Ghana is the top fastest growing economy in the world. The country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 8.3 percent in 2017 followed by Ethiopia which grew by 8.2 percent.

India is the third fasted growing economy globally with her GDP having grown 7.3 percent last year while that of Cote d’Ivoire followed closely at position four with an average growth of 7.2 percent.

The economy of Djibouti grew at 7 percent while those of Cambodia, Bhutan, and Senegal grew by 6.9 percent each in 2017. The economies of Tanzania and Philippines grew by 6.8 and 6.7 percent respectively.

According to the World Bank, the Sub-Saharan region is expected to grow at the rate of 3.2 percent in 2018 from 2.4 percent in 2017 with a slight spike to 3.5 percent in 2019.
