White Irish Potatoes Retailing Highest in Mombasa and Lowest in Nakuru

A market survey carried out by SokoDirectory has revealed that the price of a 50 Kg bag of White Irish Potatoes is retailing highest in Mombasa at a price of 3,500 and lowest in Nakuru at 2,400 shillings.

The average price of a 50 Kg bag of White Irish potatoes across the markets is 2,940 shillings with a kilogram going for about 60 shillings.

In other major markets, a 50 Kg bag of White Irish potatoes is retailing at 3,000 shillings in Nairobi and Kisumu and 2,800 shillings in Eldoret.

During the same review period last year, the average price of a 50 Kg bag of White Irish potatoes was about 2,500 shillings with a kilogram going for roughly 50 shillings.

Meanwhile, prices for Red Irish Potatoes are slightly higher than those of White Irish Potatoes with the average price of Red Irish Potatoes being at 3,100 shillings.

A 50 Kg bag of Red Irish Potatoes is retailing highest in Mombasa at a price of 3,500 shillings and 3,000 shillings in Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Nakuru.

Sweet Potatoes, commonly known as “Ngwaci”, are retailing highest in Eldoret where a 98 Kg bag is being sold at 4,500 shillings and lowest in Mombasa at 2,900 shillings.

In other major markets, a 98 Kg bag of Ngwaci is being sold at 3,300 shillings in Nairobi, 3,000 shillings in Kisumu, and 3,500 in Nakuru.

During our market survey, Cassavas were very hard to come across in Eldoret and Nakuru.

Nonetheless, the price of a 99 Kg bag of Cassava is 2,400 shillings in both Nairobi and Mombasa and 3,000 shillings in Kisumu.
