Sorghum Records a 3% increase in Prices Across the Country

A 90 Kg bag of Sorghum is being sold at an average price of 4,190 shillings across selected markets in the country, a 3 percent increase from the same survey period last year.

Last year, the average price of a 90 Kg bag of Sorghum was retailing at 4,033 shillings, with the highest market price being 5,400 shillings in Eldoret and the lowest price being 2,700 shillings in Mombasa.

Currently, Eldoret has the highest market price of Sorghum, where a 90 Kg bag is retailing at a price of 5,400 shillings.

Mombasa and Kisumu have the lowest market prices for Sorghum, with a 90 Kg bag being sold at 3,600 shillings each.

In Nairobi, a 90 Kg bag of Sorghum is being sold at a market price of 4,350 shillings while in Nakuru, the same quantity is going for 4,000 shillings.

Meanwhile, farmers seem to be raking in a good amount of money from farming Finger millet, where a 90 Kg bag is being sold at an average price of 7,140 shillings in selected markets across the country.

Eldoret has the highest market price for Finger millet, with a 90 Kg bag going for 7,650 shillings.

In other markets, a 90 Kg bag of Finger millet is retailing at 7,200 shillings in Nairobi, 6,750 shillings in Mombasa, 7,600 shillings in Kisumu and 6,500 shillings in Nakuru.

Wheat prices in Eldoret remain at 3,000 shillings for every 90 Kgs since November last year, a drop from 3,300 shillings in June last year.
