Busia County Finance Offices Reduced To Ashes 50 Meters From Fire Fighting Engine

A fire has burned down Busia County finance office, totally destroying what has been described as “crucial documents” regarding the finances of the county.

The fire has raised more questions than answers with a suspected foul play in a move to “destroy evidence” for unaccounted spending at the county.

Ironically, as the offices went down in flames, a fire fighting engine that was purchased at the cost of 55 million shillings was parked a few meters away.

Authorities have said that the cause of the fire is still unknown with investigations being underway.

Devolution of Corruption

The incident in Busia is not the only one. There have been other counties whose offices have gone up in flames every time queries arise on accountability.

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC), together with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) should always look beyond “mere” accident allegation in the event a finance office is at the center of the fire.

Since devolution, Kenyans have been losing billions of money to clueless county governance that only thinks of enlarging their bellies at the expense of the taxpayer.

Devolution was meant to make life easy for Kenyans but not to overburden them like it is currently and something needs to be done.
