Kenya now has a confirmed 50 coronavirus cases as Nairobi continues to lead with 34 cases from 31 cases yesterday after eight people have tested positive for the Killer virus.

Kilifi follows with six cases, Mombasa has two cases while Kwale and Kajiado have one case each as fourteen people await their results in Mbagathi hospital.

The Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has revealed that mass testing of 2050 people is currently underway and Kenya should brace for an increase in the number of coronavirus infections.

The Health CS has encouraged Kenyans to minimize movement, especially to the upcountry in a way to protect the elderly who have lesser chances of survival if infected.

“We are encouraging those in Nairobi to stop traveling upcountry from henceforth as a majority of our elderly people are in the upcountry as a way to protect them,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has also noted that riders and their passengers will from today henceforth be required to wear masks as bodaboda riders will now be allowed to carry a maximum of one passenger.

Yesterday, the 29th March of 2020, the Health CS announced that the country had 42 cases which means the 8 cases are within the last 24 hours.

“We are importing ventilators from the World and are glad to mention that the World Bank has donated 2500 ventilators,” CS Mutahi Kagwe said in his address yesterday adding that the country already had an ICU capacity bed of 1000 and was continuing to work on it.

“We have a capacity for 1000 ICU beds and continue to build capacity and if indeed we run short, it will not be because we did not give it our very best,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

“We urge Kenyans to work with the government in combating coronavirus and call out those who are using this killer disease to gain mileage,” Health CS.
