Kenyans Decry Ksh.4 Million Spent In Tea, Snacks By CS Kagwe Ministry

Ksh. 4 Million have been spent up in tea and snacks by the CS Kagwe led Ministry while 70 million has been spent in communication since COVID-19 hit Kenya.

Kenya has 384 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the reality of 4 million shillings having been spent up in a period of fewer than two months considering other millions used in other requirements opens one’s eyes to exactly how expensive it will be to end this virus.

Already the printing of traveler, quarantine, and discharge forms has cost the country 9 million shillings while procuring and installing the call center for grievances, complaints management has cost the Kenyan government 11.8 million shillings.

Kenyans online have expressed their dissatisfaction trending Health CS Kagwe especially on why there was a need for millions to be spent on tea and snacks at a time when he asked Kenyans to stop going through life as if it was normal as COVID-19 had changed the order of things.

CS Kagwe even had the Ministry of Health place a statement that is run on Television stations, radio’s and even Youtube saying, ‘if you continue behaving normally, this disease will treat you abnormally’.

Well, it seems the CS Kagwe led Ministry of Health is behaving normally at a time that is abnormal for the World going by their expenditure overlooking that the country is faced by more crises than just the COVID-19.

Kenya has to spend on those afflicted by floods, spend on eradicating desert locusts, starvation, and deal with lack of revenue following shut and slowed businesses since the first of COVID-19 was announced and how there is still space for tea and snacks leaves Kenyans not just shocked but also hurt.

Whether or not CS Kagwe and his team are misusing the funds meant to safeguard Kenyans from COVID-19 is a matter that will continue to be discussed time and again, hopefully, they think of the Kenyans starving after losing jobs thanks to COVID-19 as they sip their 4 million worth of tea and snacks.

We can only hope those donating do not begin to feel like they are donating to an already rich government going by the expenditure in the CS Kagwe led ministry.
