Stealing In The Name Of Covid-19: Here Are The Billions Being Looted

BY Juma · April 30, 2020 07:04 am

Covid-19 is a lucrative venture for those in the Kenyan government. It is not a disease but an investment. The pandemic is turning some Kenyans into overnight millionaires and billionaires.

Donations are coming in; from the World Bank, Kenyan Banks such as Equity Bank Group, Telecommunications such as Safaricom, and from individuals.

On TV, they are fighting Covid-19 but behind the scenes, they are reaping from the pandemic. It is what Ngugi Wa Thiong’o calls “the few benefiting from the suffering of many.”

Of the 5 billion shillings given to the Kenyan government to combat Covid-19, this is how our wise and great people at the helm of the Ministry of Health used 1 billion of it:

42,000,000 shillings have been used to hire 15 ambulances by the Ministry of Health. (42 million shillings.) This is a whole government “hiring ambulances”.

12,000,000 shillings have been used for the accommodation of 30 HCW needing quarantine services for 90 days. (12 million shillings).

How much do you use for your credit? (Making calls and sending SMSs?) Well, the Ministry of Health has already use 2,000,000 shillings on airtime. (2 million shillings).

14,400,000 shillings have been used to fuel an estimate of 30 cars at a cost of 40,000 shillings per car per week. It looks like these cars are jets. Right?

How much tea and snacks do you take? It seems the people at the Ministry of Health are lovers of tea. Can you imagine they used 4,000,000 shillings to prepare tea and snacks for “varied teams”? Tea must be very helpful in the fight against Covid-19.

6,500,000 shillings have been used on printing papers and toners (stationery). Are these people running a book publishing business? Thieves in higher places.

The Ministry of Health has used 70,000,000 shillings (70 million shillings) for, guess what? Communication. Just like that. Communication.

11,800,000 shillings have been used to procure an “install a call center for grievances and complaint management.”

9,000,000 shillings have been used on the printing of travelers’ forms, quarantine forms, and discharge forms. Imagine that.

Anyway, we elected thieves anyway. What did we expect? Die, people. Die. As you die, it is a profit for them. It is a nation of plunder. And let the looting continue.
