Four Missing After Boat Capsizes In Lamu Port – Kenya Red Cross

Four people are missing after a boat that was heading to the Ingimi area has capsized in Lamu port according to the Kenya Red Cross.

The boat that had onboard the four passengers whom the Kenya Red Cross divers are currently working on rescuing has capsized a few hours ago.

Incidents of people disappearing at sea after vessels capsize are not new in Lamu Port with the worst tragedy having occurred on 13th August 2017 when Lamu ODM politician Shekue Kahale lost twelve of his relatives including his wife and four children.

In 2019, a boat capsized in Lamu Port near Mtondoni Channel and one person died while a few months later two people were reported dead after another vessel capsized.

In June 2018, one fisherman died while three others escaped with injuries after their boat capsized at Manda Maweni in Lamu, and in August the same year, three fishermen went missing never to be found again after their boat capsized in Ndau in Lamu West.
