The coming of Covid-19 has led to various innovations around the world and Kenya has not been left behind. In Kenya, most businesses and individuals have moved their services to online and cashless platforms to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Safaricom is one of the companies in Kenya that have been leading in innovations especially through its M-Pesa platform, enabling Kenyans and businesses to embrace a cashless mode of transactions for Kenyans to avoid coming in contact with banknotes.

To help better its services, Safaricom has launched MySafaricom App, a new lifestyle app that will provide customers and users with an easy and efficient way to access its products and services under one roof.

“For the new Safaricom app, we set out to do a lifestyle app, not a utility one, and we hope customers will have better experiences,” said Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi, Safaricom Head of Digital Products and Services during its formal launch Wednesday.

Fawzia said through the app, users have more visibility on their usage with the new App. The app, on the other hand, is meant to break the monotony of just being a “transactional app” but one that customers can enjoy having by accessing various services at a go.

The app comes with three critical pillars: Security, an automatic authentication using a One Time Password (OTP) when a user signs up;  Control, for postpaid customers who can be able to see their usage daily, and Usage where users will be able to know how much data they have used.

The app has been on beta since February 2020 with over 50,000 users have tested and provided feedback according to Fawzia.

“It’s Here. It’s Simple. It’s For You. Get the New mySafaricom App that is app to task, it is app to speed and promises to App your game. Download on the App Store for IOS. Download from Google Play for Android Get 500MB Free Data,” said Safaricom through their Twitter Handle.

The app is available on Google Play and on iOS on the App Store.
