Donald Trump Banned From Facebook Indefinitely

President Donald Trump is the man under siege or sieke as a Kenyan would say. His one-term presidency is coming to an end on January 20, 2021, the Senate is calling on the 25th Amendment to be invoked so that he is removed from the office and his goose seems cooked.

And now various social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitch have banned him from accessing his own accounts for “fueling violence” through them. This is after his supporters stormed Capitol Hill in what has been described as an attempted coup.

At the same time, Facebook has announced that President Donald Trump will be barred from using the platform for at least the next two weeks and probably ‘indefinitely’. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the outgoing president will remain banned from the social media platform.

“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete,” said the Facebook CEO.

Facebook and Twitter took the extraordinary step on Wednesday of temporarily blocking President Donald Trump’s account on their platforms after his supporters stormed the Capitol building to protest the election. Twitter has given him12 hours to delete the posts.

The storming of Capitol Hill was an irony given that the United States of America has always appointed itself as the moral cop of the world, preaching about democracy and credible elections. President Trump claims that his victory was stolen from him.

Although Mr. Trump has said that there will be an orderly transition of power, he has said that he will not concede defeat because he did not lose.
