Kenya Power customers can purchase tokens and settle electricity bills using Bonga points following a partnership agreement between the electricity distributor and Safaricom.

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company in Kenya has two systems of electricity service across the country. You can have either a post or pre-paid meter.

The latter system requires its users to purchase electricity tokens, which they then feed into their meters to use up to their completion. The prepaid system provides the benefit of budgeting and using electricity as one can afford

The service is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. Safaricom said the initiative would enable their over 7.1 million domestic customers to redeem their Bonga Points to purchase tokens or pay their monthly bills at the rate of Ksh.20 cents per point.
