Uhuru Cancels Ukambani Tour Citing Covid-19 Threat

President Uhuru Kenyatta has abruptly canceled the Ukambani tour.

The Head of State canceled the two days tour, which was highly anticipated by leaders and residents of the region, on the grounds that it might trigger a spread of covid-19.

The president was expected to visit Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties to inspect the development.

Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana had hosted his Machakos and Kitui counterparts Alfred Mutua and charity Ngilu at his official residents in Wote ready for the presentations of one development project to the president projects in these counties.

It’s a disappointment to the people of the Ukambani region but is a good thing the president has put forward considerations for the safety and health of the residents not just in the counties but in the whole country.

The covid 19 positivity rate now stands at 9.8 percent with 185,868 confirmed cases of covid 19,127625 recovered cases and 3675 death cases in the country.
