The counties include Kenya's capital Nairobi, Mandera, Kilifi and Tana River.

The United States State Department has issued a new travel advisory against 8 Kenyan counties with a “likelihood of terror attacks.”

The 8 counties include; Mandera, Turkana, Kilifi, Nairobi, and Tana River over terror threats, kidnappings, and crime.

As Kenyans waited for the general election results, the US Embassy in Nairobi issued a travel advisory against Kisumu City leading to a protest among a section of Kenyans and leaders.

When the Supreme Court of Kenya was about to release the ruling on the Presidential Petition, the US Embassy in Nairobi once again issued another travel advisory against Kisumu City.

This is the first time in years that the US State Department has issued a travel advisory to more than 3 counties in Kenya. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kenya is yet to issue a statement.

It is not only Kenya that has been affected though. On Tuesday, the State Department issued an array of travel advisories against 92 regions in different countries, being the highest in a long time too.

In all, a whopping 98 updated travel advisories were posted, including six “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisories, with updated health information for Russia, Ukraine, Central African Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Belarus. Countries with a Level-4 designation present a “greater likelihood of life-threatening risks.”
