Kenyan Shilling Drops Lowest In History On Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Kenyan shilling weakened against three major global currencies; the US Dollar, the Pound and the Euro.

Here is the exchange:

USD|KES: KES weakened 0.03% to close at 121.41 (-7.31% year-to-date).

GBP|KES: KES weakened 0.07% to close at 139.89 (+8.00% year-to-date).

EUR|KES: KES weakened 0.08% to close at 120.43 (+5.91% year-to-date).

Kenyan Stock Market

Total equity turnover shrunk by 74.44% to close at USD 1.19 MN (KES 144.04 MN) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 4.64 MN (KES 563.46 MN).

NSE 20 grew by 0.22% to close at 1,684.15 while NASI shrunk by 0.51%  to close at 127.94.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 31.40% of total market purchases and 75.49% of total market sales.
