NSE 20 and NASI shrunk by 0.10 percent and 0.09 percent to close at 1,682.55 and 127.82, respectively.
Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 33.91 percent of total market purchases and 60.08 percent of total market sales.
Exchange Rate Performance
The Kenyan shilling has continued its weakening against the US Dollar. On Thursday, the local currency sunk 0.03 percent to end the day at 121.45 shillings with a loss of 7.35 percent on a year-to-date basis. This is the lowest it has ever fallen in history.
Against the British Pound, the local currency strengthened 0.03 percent to close the day at 139.85 shillings (+8.03 percent year-to-date). Against the Euro, the shilling strengthened 0.07 percent to close at 120.34 shillings (+5.98 percent year-to-date).
