The Following Regions To Experience Heavy Rainfall According To Kenya Met

Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru were projected to experience heavy rainfall for the next five days.

On December 18th, the Kenya Meteorological Department told Kenyans living in various parts of the country to brace for moderate rainfall for the next five days.

According to Kenya Met Director General David Gikungu, residents living in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast would experience rains.

He added that Highland East counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi would experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

Above the regions, rainfall will begin in the afternoon after sunny and cloudy intervals in the morning. The afternoon rains were expected to fall until dusk.

Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru were projected to experience heavy rainfall for the next five days.

Gikungu said that the above counties would receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms with Kenyans living in the said places urged to be on the lookout for potential floods. Other counties include Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

The meteorological department in its weekly advisory cautions Kenyans of very cold night temperatures categorically in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi.

The night temperatures in the above counties were expected to drop to 7°C in the first three days of the forecast before rising to 11°C for the rest of the days.

Kenyans living in Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet were cautioned to brace for high daytime temperatures of up to 36°C. Other counties include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale.
