Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, And Laikipia Among Counties To Receive Heavy Rainfall This Week

The Kenya Metrological Department announced a weather advisory for the next seven days. According to the advisory, most regions in the country are set to receive rainfall for the first half of the week including Nairobi
Kenyans living in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, and the Lake Victoria basin are also set to expect rainfall that might be accompanied by storms for the first half of the week.
Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are among the counties expected to receive morning rains, afternoon and night showers, and thunderstorms. They are also expected to experience sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
Additionally, other regions set to be affected by the rains and the thunderstorms include regions around the Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, the Coastal areas, and Northeastern Kenya. Siaya, Kisumu, Lamu, Mombasa, and Bungoma among other areas are set to be affected by the rains.
“Rainfall is expected in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, southeastern lowlands, Coast, and northeastern Kenya during the first half of the week. Isolated storms may occur,’’ Kenya Meteorological Department announced.

According to the weatherman, there might be some weather changes within the second half of the week, with more areas witnessing a shift in the patterns recorded prior.
The second half of the week is set to be generally sunny and dry, with Kenyans warned to brace for the sudden shift in the weather patterns within the week. The average daytime temperatures are also expected to rise, with Kenya Met revealing that it might exceed 30°C in several areas across the country.
Areas around northeastern and northwestern Kenya are set to experience the rise in temperature, including Butere, Kakamega, Busia, Wajir, Mandera, Bungoma, and Vihiga, among other areas.
Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River are also among the County set to experience high temperatures.
“The second half of the week is likely to be generally sunny and dry. Average daytime (max) temperatures will exceed 30°C in several areas, including northeastern and northwestern Kenya,’’ the weatherman noted in a statement.
The Central Highlands and Rift Valley are also expected to experience exceptionally low temperatures at night, as most of the areas within the regions are set to experience drastic temperature drops.
The weatherman also noted that the night temperatures are expected to fall below 10 degrees Celsius in parts of the Central Highlands and the Central Rift Valley.
“Night-time (min) temperatures are expected to drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley,’’ the statement from Kenya Met added.
