The Following Regions To Experience Rains For Next Seven Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned Kenyans to brace for heavy rains for the next seven days with Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu amongst the regions to receive rainfall.

On Tuesday, 21 January, Kenya Met released their weekly advisory report saying that most parts of the country will experience mostly sunny and dry weather conditions, with daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C.

The meteorological department stated that residents of Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi are set to experience morning rains and afternoon showers, despite the forecast of mostly sunny weather during the day.

Kenya Met has also urged residents of Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok counties to brace for morning rains, afternoon showers, and thunderstorms within.

According to Kenya Met, counties around the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, are also expected to have sunny intervals prevail during the day.

Kenyans who live in the Southeastern lowlands of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River to experience warmer temperatures expected to prevail during the day.

Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, and coastal areas of Tana River are expected to have daylong sunny intervals with the possibility of receiving occasional light morning showers. It is expected that nights will be partly cloudy.

North-Eastern and North Western counties such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana, and Samburu were urged to brace for extremely high temperatures with peaks of up to 38°C. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

In the North Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley (Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo, and West-Pokot Counties) experience sunny intervals during the partly cloudy at night.
