Kenyan Shilling Holds Steady As Foreigners Resume Net Selling At The NSE

The Kenyan shilling has maintained boldness against the US Dollar. On Monday, the local currency slightly weakened by 0.02 percent to close at 129.26 (+0.02 percent year-to-date).

Against the British Pound, the shilling strengthened 1.51 percent to close at 166.90 (-2.85 percent year-to-date). It also strengthened 1.01 percent against the Euro to close at 142.04 (-5.77 percent year-to-date).

Kenyan Stock Market

Total equity turnover dropped by 55.42% to close at USD 1.37 MN (KES 177.12 MN) compared to Friday’s turnover of USD 3.07 MN (KES 397.20 MN).

NSE 20 and NASI eased by 0.91% and 1.81% to close at 2,204.76 and 129.13 respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 45.83% of total market purchases and 54.12% of total market sales.
