KUCCPS Extends Deadline For University And TVET Course Application

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its application portals for both university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placements, offering thousands of students another opportunity to submit or revise their course applications.
KUCCPS student portal reveals that the placement agency did not shut down the system as earlier communicated, allowing candidates who may have missed the official deadline to continue making applications and course revisions.
Previously, KUCCPS had announced that the second revision window would run from May 16 to May 22. The exercise was intended to help students who failed to secure placement during the first application phase to revise their choices and increase their chances of securing admission into universities and colleges ahead of the September 2026 intake.
The window also targeted students who, for various reasons, had not submitted applications during the initial application period, giving them another chance to apply for available programmes in universities, colleges, and TVET institutions across the country.
However, despite the expiry of the May 22 deadline, the KUCCPS portal remained active, effectively extending the application period without any formal public announcement from the placement body.
According to the information currently displayed on the portal, students seeking placement into universities now have until Monday, June 1, to submit fresh applications or revise their course selections.
On the other hand, candidates applying for TVET institutions have been granted a slightly longer extension, with the application portal set to remain open until Monday, June 8.
The extension comes as welcome relief for many students and parents who were unable to meet the earlier deadline due to technical challenges, delayed decision-making, internet access problems, or lack of proper guidance during the application process
Education stakeholders have previously raised concerns over students missing placement opportunities because of system delays and limited access to cyber services, especially in remote areas. The extension is therefore expected to give more candidates sufficient time to carefully review available programmes and make informed decisions about their future careers.
The ongoing application period means that students who failed to apply during the first and second windows can still log in to the KUCCPS portal and make fresh applications. Similarly, those who are dissatisfied with their earlier course choices can still revise them before the new deadlines lapse.
Candidates have been advised to carefully review the requirements for each course and institution before submitting their final selections to avoid mistakes that could affect their placement.
Students can access the KUCCPS student portal using their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) index numbers, KCSE year, and password to review, revise, or submit their applications.
KUCCPS is expected to release placement results in July, when successful candidates will officially learn the institutions and programmes they have been assigned.
Those placed into various programmes will then begin preparations for admission ahead of the September intake in universities, colleges, and TVET institutions across the country.
However, students who may not be satisfied with the courses or institutions assigned to them will still have another opportunity to transfer. KUCCPS usually opens an inter-institutional and inter-programme transfer window after the release of placement results, allowing candidates to request changes based on available vacancies and eligibility requirements.
The transfer process is expected to be guided by instructions that KUCCPS will issue once placement results are officially released.
With the portal still active beyond the previously announced deadline, students are now being encouraged to take advantage of the extended period to secure placement opportunities before the final closure dates announced on the system.
