An entrepreneur’s guide to becoming a go-getter.

BY · May 5, 2015 07:05 am

A proactive person shapes their own destiny and never allows themselves to fall prey to external circumstances.

Go-getters are passionate about what they do. They wake up in the morning fired up with enthusiasm and will make life work the way they want. It’s never about the education, skill or talent but the passion, drive and motivation. Here is how you can stop being a non-achiever and start being a go-getter.

Know what you want: Do not follow other people’s career options. Not having your career plans in mind leads to lack of enthusiasm. Follow your own plans and have your own tactics to achieve it.

Don’t trade your time for money: You’ve only got 24 hours in a day, how many of those hours can you work? Time is a very important thing and if you trade your time for money you aren’t an entrepreneur, you’re a salary man. Don’t work more but work better.

Have passion for what you do: Be passionate about what you do to achieve desirable results. Pick a job that interests you.

Produce, don’t consume: Go getters produce what non achievers consume. The type of people that follow get rich quick schemes, never stick to one thing and they never try to provide value, they jump ship at the first sign of hardship and move on to the next scheme.

Unwavering confidence: Be a person of strength, clarity, conviction, and an absence of doubt. Fear or confusion should not be part of your mindset. Those who understand what they have to achieve cannot be stopped by small hurdles. Confidence allows other people to believe in you because they see that you believe in yourself.

Optimism: Being a go-getter calls for optimism. Optimism is the source of all good. When you are optimistic, you see no boundaries for anything you want to accomplish.

Don’t let criticism put you down: You are willing to put up with criticism since most criticism comes from negative thinkers. Don’t worry about approval for what you know is right. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur learn how to take risks and avoid naysayers.

Take challenges as a learning experience: Be persistent despite the obstacles. Each time you get knocked down get back up and try again.

Be adaptive and highly flexible. If something doesn’t work – then they will try a different way.
