We all go through periods of self-doubt at times in life which may lead to giving up on something you always dreamt of. For an entrepreneur, unproductive thinking can crash your business. Over time, self doubt negatively impacts your leadership, performance and the business.

Self-doubt happens to everyone. Business leaders who accept this fact of life and move to overcome it are the most successful.

Associating with positive people in life can help combat self-doubt; if someone in your area of work contributes to your negative self-talk, stay away from them and try to encourage your team to do the same too. Attend meet-ups with other entrepreneurs to share challenges and struggles, you never know, one success story can change a lot in your business mentality.

Focus on building your brand and appreciate short term gains. When you don’t obsess over long term achievements and instead focus on short term achievements, you notice the smallest changes in growth of your business and self-doubt takes a vacation from your head.

Giving up is a sign of weakness, most of the world’s richest individuals started from the bottom; the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs, who now own Fortune 500 companies that make a lot of money every day. Countless numbers of talented people are out there, but talent with no will power ends in nothing. Look up to successful people and learn from their mistakes.

It is also important to understand that failure is normal to get rid of self-doubt, what matters is how you react to it. Make sure you’re working like you would at any job and focus your days on growing your business. That alone and your business will become a success.

Sometimes self-doubt can come as a result of not working hard enough. Make schedules for yourself, set deadlines and ensure you provide great service as you work on building your brand. Self-doubt occurs most frequently during periods of inactivity and idleness.

Set reachable goals. The effort involved in planning and working to achieve that goal leaves little time and energy for self-doubt, regain your confidence through a busy schedule. Staying active means you have less time for questioning your decisions.
