Foreign Investors Took The Lion’s Share At The NSE on Tuesday

Foreign investor trading accounted for 81.4 percent of total market turnover in Tuesday’s session from 69.0 percent recorded in the previous session.

The top traded counters were Safaricom, Equity Group, EABL, and KPLC. Net buying activity was mainly recorded on BAT Kenya while net selling was mainly on Equity Group, Safaricom and KPLC. Foreign investors were net sellers in the session.

The top mover of the day on Tuesday was Safaricom Plc who recorded a turnover of 393.24 million shillings at a price of 23.00 shillings per share. Safaricom accounted for 46.76 percent of foreign buys and 48.55 percent of foreign sales.

Equity Group Holdings was the second top mover with a turnover of 46.25 million shillings at a price of 37.25 shillings per share. The lender accounted for 0.15 percent of foreign buys and 49.67 percent of foreign sales.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company and KCB Group had a turnover of 23.09 and 19.19 million shillings at the price of 3.15 and 38.80 shillings per share respectively. KPLC accounted for 0.84 percent of foreign buys and 44.01 percent of foreign sales while KCB Group accounted for 0.99 percent of foreign buys and 11.23 percent of foreign sales.

The top loser of the day was Uchumi Supermarket who lost 9.76 percent at the price of 0.74 shillings per share followed by Standard Group who lost 6.33 percent at the price of 28.10 shillings per share. Sameer Africa and CIC Insurance Group lost 4.64 and 4.32 percent at the price of 1.85 and 3.54 shillings per share respectively.

The top gainer of the day was the British American Tobacco Kenya with 8.40 percent at the price of 542.00 shillings per share followed by the National Bank Kenya Limited with 7.14 percent at the price of 6.00 shillings per share. Diamond Trust Bank Kenya and Carbacid Investments Plc gained 6.58 and 4.00 percent at the price of 158.00 and 10.40 shillings per share respectively.
