BAT Kenya Emerges Day’s Top Loser

NSE 20 share and NASI index declined 8.32 points and 0.40 points respectively to close at 4,248.95 and 148.28. Umeme gained 9.38 percent closing today’s session at KES 17.50 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. BAT Kenya emerged the top loser, declining by 4.78 percent to close the day at KES 757.00.

The volume of shares traded went down 13.50 percent to close at 16.94mn. Total turnover shed off 12.74 percent to close at KES 515.21mn. CFC Stanbic was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 117.96mn representing 22.90 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 78.50 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 50.35 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI went up 0.27 percent and 0.18 percent respectively to close at 1,958.53 and 353.25. A total of 23,541 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 13.55mn, an increment from the previous turnover.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI lost 0.05 percent and 0.01 percent respectively to close at 189.34 and 141.35. Total turnover came in at RWF 2.77mn with 9,900 shares traded.

Tanzania: The DSEI rose 1.18 percent to close at 2,570.59 while DSE TSI lost 0.07 percent to close at 4,613.85. Africa Barrick Gold gained 4.69 percent to close at 8,260 becoming today’stop gainer. Tanga Cement Company declined 2.63 percent to close at 3,700.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 2.07mn shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 23.10bn.
