The Teachers Service Commission (TSC)  fired 73 teachers following several disciplinary cases against them. According to the Gazette Notice, the Commission CEO Nancy Macharia published the names of the fired teachers alongside their TSC number, disciplinary case number a, nd date of removal.

TSC CEO Nancy Macharia said that those listed shall cease from acting as teachers with effect from the date of removal. Out of the 73, 10 teachers fired were also removed from the Board of Management (BOM).

“A person shall not engage in the teaching service unless such a person is registered as a teacher under this Act,” reads part of the Act.

Education CEO warned schools against employing unregistered teachers in their institutions, failure to which they shall be guilty of an offense and risk a fine of not less than Ksh100,000 or a two-year jail term or both.

According to TSC, a teacher’s appointment may be terminated by the Commission, which is required to give a month’s notice in writing or pay a month’s basic salary instead of the notice.
