Politicians should Act instead of Giving Empty Promises

It’s high time that politicians in the country should stop giving promises that they already know in their hearts that they won’t deliver, and act on what they deem fit.

If integrity, honesty, and trust are tough values to keep at least they should try to keep their dignity in check.

It is already campaign time, and Kenyans are ready to listen to the ignorant politicians who use the same lines they have been using over and over again.

The new slogan they hold is “I will”; they use it to corn many Kenyans to vote for them into a political seat. And when appointed they stay quiet for four years and just when their term is about to end they wake up to the reality and remember the same promises they gave in the past.

Political propaganda is a thing of the past, Kenyans are becoming aware of it day in day out. Politicians now have to escape the lyrical line they are used to of “I will” and transition to “I have done”. Kenyans want action and not empty promises.

This hasn’t been different with President Uhuru Kenyatta, who on the day that people are celebrating Madaraka Day used it as a campaign platform for the next general election in August. He promised Kenyans free public secondary education beginning next year, the extension of the Thika Superhighway farther to the north and cash transfers to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above.

We see them on all platforms; comically our new “Joshua” doesn’t escape this category. They all are of the same flock, taking advantage of Kenyan’s emotions and needs to create political agenda.

But don’t you think that these are Kenya’s development goals that politicians politick on just to gunner votes from Kenyans.

Politicians make promises and leave, many things have been said, many promises have been made, but it’s up to you as a patriotic Kenyan to choose wisely and vote in people who care for your interest and not just for the tribal and political setting.
