A Statement From Stanbic Bank To Kenyans As Coronavirus Spreads

BY Soko Directory Team · March 20, 2020 10:03 am

Stanbic Bank Kenya recognizes that we as a country are collectively affected by the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Kenyans are concerned about their personal health, that of their families and the community. We appreciate that the financial impact is already being felt across a wide range of sectors in our economy.

In line with the directive from the Central Bank of Kenya in a statement dated 18th March 2020, Stanbic Bank Kenya has put in place the following measures to mitigate the adverse financial impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on our customers.

We have implemented free transfers between M-Pesa and bank account on the Mobile app and USSD

We have waived account balance enquiry fees on mobile banking on both the app and USSD.

We will consider relief to borrowers on their personal loans based on their individual circumstances arising from the pandemic. To this end, we will review requests from borrowers for extension of their loan for a period of up to twelve months and we encourage all our clients who may wish to seek relief to contact their relationship manager or branches to initiate the process.

We will assess the impact of the pandemic on medium-sized enterprises and corporate borrowers and look to support them by considering extending and/ or restructuring their loans based on their respective circumstances.

We will be on hand to assist our customers in exploring, and will do our best to provide, any other financial solutions that will address their challenges and support them through this difficult period.

As a Bank, our preparedness and response activities are in place. Our efforts are primarily focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and customers as well as putting systems and capabilities in place to minimize business disruption to our clients and services.

Following the directive from the Kenyan Ministry of Health to keep social distance, we urge our customers to take advantage of all our digital platforms to carry out transactions and adopt those that will make their banking experience with us seamless, instant and safe. These include mobile banking and internet banking.  Our contact center will remain operational 24//7 in order to respond to any inquiries.

We have put in place hand sanitizers at the various customer touchpoints including ATMs, Cash Deposit Machines and banking halls across the country. Hand sanitization is now compulsory for everyone who walks into our branches and ATM centers, we are encouraging everyone to use them before using any customer touchpoints.

As a supplementary measure, we assure our customers of regular sanitization of all our facilities and venues including offices, banking halls, ATMs, and Cash Deposit Machines.

Again, the safety and security of all stakeholders are of paramount importance at this time.
