The Nairobi Women’s Hospital (NWH) officially launched its 34 bed COVID-19 isolation and treatment center in the Ongata Rongai Branch, a suburb of Kajiado County, a move expected to support Kenya’s healthcare infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

The 34-bed isolation and treatment center will be available to serve patients seeking self-quarantine, isolation, or treatment health care services during this crisis period.

“We have listened to our stakeholders and the communities that we are part and parcel of and set up this center as we stand with the Government of Kenya and Kajiado County in the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic’’ said Michael Walli, Director at The Nairobi Women’s Hospital.

NWH has qualified and trained medical personnel to handle COVID -19 cases at the center and has put all preventive measures in place to ensure staff safety added Mr. Walli.

“We are very happy as Kajiado County for this investment by NWH especially at this time where we are running out of bed space. This facility will go along way in supplementing our efforts towards managing the COVID-19 Pandemic,” said Eddah Wakapa, Kajiado County Public Health, and Sanitation Chief Officer.

Other measures that the Hospital has initiated during this COVID-19 pandemic period include the introduction of its teleconsultation platform that ensures that patients continue seeking services from their preferred doctors without necessarily visiting the Hospital’s facilities in line with the Government’s COVID-19 preventative guidelines.
