Boom! Kenyan Shilling Falls Again Against The US Dollar

The Kenyan shilling has fallen again. The local currency hit the lowest in history against the US Dollar on Friday.

Exchange Rate Performance

  • USD|KES: KES weakened by 0.06% to close at 146.14 (-18.45% year-to-date).
  • GBP|KES: KES strengthened by 0.64% to close at 182.17 (-22.70% year-to-date).
  • EUR|KES: KES strengthened by 0.22% to close at 156.39 (-19.14% year-to-date).

Kenyan Stock Market

Total equity turnover rose by 40.78% to close at USD 1.58 MN (KES 230.87 MN) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 1.12 MN (KES 163.99 MN).

NSE 20 and NASI rose by 0.31% and 0.73% to close at 1,541.67 and 98.70 respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 52.62% of total market purchases and 41.09% of total market sales.
