Coca-Cola is this year’s official non-alcoholic beverage sponsor of the 2015 Barclays Kenya Open, with a cash sponsorship of Sh 14 million, the beverage giant announced this at a press conference at the Karen Country Club.

Coca-Cola General Manager for East Africa, Peter Njonjo said with this year’s sponsorship the organization was keen on leveraging on its platinum sponsorship to hydrate both the players and the tournament attendees with the full Coca-Cola portfolio. He said the decision to include the total portfolio arose out of the need to give players and spectators options in choice to reflect the company’s’ diverse portfolio of beverage offerings.

“As a total beverage business, we feel we can bring more to this premier Golfing Occasion to refresh and remind players and spectators of the happiness in our bottles, especially brand Coca-Cola to connect with our consumers both local and international,” said Njonjo when presenting the sponsorship cheque to the Kenya Open Golf Limited chairman Peter Kanyago.

“By putting our entire portfolio behind this year’s Tournament, we reiterate our continued commitment to supporting active healthy living through sporting activities and in this particular case through golf,” Said Njonjo.

Receiving the sponsorship cheque, Kanyago lauded Coca-Cola for their continued support and strong presence in the Barclays Kenya Open. He added “given that this is the only European Tour Event in the region, we are proud that corporate sponsors like Coca-Cola come in strongly to support this very important event in Kenya’s sporting calendar. He reiterated KOGL’s committment in putting together a world class tournament.

The Barclays Kenya Open is part of the European Golf Tour with a high level of visibility globally. Several local and international players will be gunning for the top prizes and a chance to play in the European PGA. This year’s tournament will be played from April 9th -12th April 2015 at the Karen Golf Club.
