Kenyan Stock Market

The NSE 20 declined by 22.35 points to close the day at 5252.74 while NASI Index went up 0.68 points to end the day at 173.73. E.A. Portland was the top gainer of the day, going up by 6.31 percent to close at KES 59.00. Kakuzi was the top loser of the day, losing 10.00 percent to close the day at KES 252.00.
The number of shares traded today was 42.82mn with a turnover of KES 1.33bn, indicating an increment of 103.83 percent compared to yesterday’s turnover. The top mover was Safaricom with a turnover of KES 332.19mn, representing 25.01 percent of the day’s total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 39.03 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 60.65 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI gained 0.45 and 1.33 percent respectively to close percent to close at 2,076.36 and 329.95. A total of 119,171 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 5.12mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI remained constant to close the day at 137.33 and 234.63.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI went down by 0.22 percent and 0.68 percent respectively to close the day at 2693.31 and 4810.04. Africa Barrick Gold was the highest gainer of the day edging by 19.73 percent to close at TZS 8,525.00. Tanga Cement Company declined by 4.44 percent to close the day at TZS 4,300 to be the highest loser of the day. Total volumes were recorded at 67,408 shares as total turnover closed at TZS 153.54mn.
