NSE 20 Index falls for third day running

The NSE 20 Index fell for the third day running, losing 47.28 points today to close at 5,078.74 .

The NASI Index continued its upward trend for the week gaining 0.50 points today to close at 171.57.Standard Group was the highest gainer, rising by 6.43 percent on its share price to close at KES 37.25. BAT Kenya was the top loser of the day declining by 6.11 percent to close at KES 676.00.

The total volume of shares traded stood at 15.66mn as total turnover closed at KES 590.60mn depicting an increment of 47.21 percent compared to yesterday’s turnover. The top mover was KCB Bank with a turnover of KES 271.75mn, representing 46.01 percent of the day’s total market turnover. Foreign buys closed at 68.49 percent of total turnover while foreign sales closed at 82.68 percent of turnover.
EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI dropped by 0.85 percent to close at 2,061.00 while USE LSI remained constant to close at 324.14. A total of 1.18mn shares were traded indicating an increase of 74.50 percent from yesterdays, 678,585 shares. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 130.89mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI remained constant to close at 137.14 and 232.99 respectively. Total number of shares traded 4.50mn representing a turnover of TZS 1.33bn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI gained 0.40 percent and 1.39 percent respectively to close at 2739.56 and 4,811.65. Swissport Tanzania was the highest gainer, edging up by 5.64 percent to close the day at TZS 6,180.00. Dar Es Salaam Community Bank and Tanga Cement Company dropped by 1.25 percent each to close at TZS 790.00 and TZS 3,950.00 respectively to emerge today’s top losers. Total volumes were recorded at 496,152 shares as Total turnover closed at TZS 6.97 bn.
